Seminar Title: A survey on the data layer of IoT-based systems.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as a paradigm in which objects equipped with sensors, actuators, and processors communicate with each other to serve a meaningful purpose. The increasing popularity of IoT services causes tremendous growth of the amount of produced data. These data must be effectively stored and retrieved by the IoT service providers. This seminar paper investigates the state-of-the-art research efforts directed toward data-related challenges in IoT-based software systems. We first present an overview of IoT and its related concepts and then introduce a number of applications that have been made feasible by the emergence of IoT. Then we compare the proposed architectures for IoT and discuss how the data-layer will fit into these architectures. Finally, open research challenges, such as privacy, big IoT data storage, and IoT edge computing are presented as future research directions.

Research Interests are as follows:

  • Internet of Things
  • Blockchain
  • Software-defined Quality Models
  • Big Data Analysis
